Often, when homeowners think about remodeling their master bathrooms, they focus on specific features that they want to include. But we’d like to suggest that you focus on what you really want to get from your remodeling project—and then start thinking about how to achieve that. With that in mind, let’s look at 4 ideas for a Master Bath remodel.
Increased Comfort
While we’ve already mentioned that functionality is essential to a successful master bath remodel, how your bathroom looks really does matter. It’s hard to feel comfortable and relaxed in an outdated bathroom. You may want to add some space (a good remodeler can sometimes “find” extra space by taking advantage of unused space). Or perhaps you’ll want to look for ways to improve the usable counter space. And don’t forget about lighting. Having the right lighting for your bathroom not only makes the room more attractive and enjoyable, but it also makes it more comfortable when you’re preparing for your day—or getting ready for bed at night.
Additional Convenience
Dual sinks are a relatively simple feature that can add a lot of convenience to your master bathroom. There’s no waiting to get at the sink when you’re getting ready for your day (or heading to bed at night). You can arrange your toiletries the way you want, and you’ll never feel pressured to hurry things up. Another great feature you may want to think about is to incorporate adequate storage space into your plan with the cabinets you choose—or by building extra storage space into the room that doesn’t take up any floor space.
Outstanding Luxury
Maybe you’re after a little luxury in your new master bathroom. You can build outstanding luxury into the design. Features that might appeal to you could be a relaxing soaking tub for those time when you want to soothe sore muscles or relieve a little tension. Or maybe you’d relish stepping out of the shower onto a nice warm floor on a cold DeKalb winter morning. Heated flooring could be just the thing you’re looking for. Another favorite (that’s growing in popularity) is a built-in steam shower that warms the shower area (without using a lot of water).
Improved Safety
If you have more mature adults living with you (or if you’re thinking ahead for your own needs) you’ll want to keep safety in mind. You may want to consider features such as a “lipless” step-in shower, stylish grab bars, shower seating, and non-slip flooring to ensure comfort and safety. But don’t be concerned: Safety and style aren’t mutually exclusive!
