DeKalb Kitchen Remodel

The kitchen is the command center and heart of the home; it’s where families bond, learn new recipes, and share stories about their day. But over time, kitchens can become outdated and uninviting. When they do, it’s time to consider a makeover. Remodeling your kitchen provides you a unique opportunity to renovate this important space, as the owners of this DeKalb home discovered. Ken Spears Construction helped them transform their space into an inviting kitchen they can enjoy for years.

Project Overview

Our DeKalb clients adored their home but were ready for a change in the kitchen. It was essential to update the kitchen and open the space for more efficient use of the room. They also wanted to brighten the room and better situate the cabinetry for their space. Our team met with them in their home and created a design to bring a modern, light, and airy feel and make the room more efficient. Together we chose the perfect design elements, renovated the room, and delivered a charming and up-to-date kitchen that was perfect for their lives.

Challenges for the Homeowner

  • Their kitchen was off-balance, with a post disrupting the rooms flow
  • They wanted a brighter kitchen with better lighting for tasks.
  • The family desired to improve efficiency with better workflow and storage solutions.
  • Achieve a heightened efficiency level by creating a smoother, more organized workflow and embracing additional storage solutions.

Design Changes to Create a Functional and Well-Lit Kitchen

  • Removed post in the original kitchen to improve the flow of the kitchen
  • Brighten the kitchen with the right task and ambient lighting
  • Rearrange cabinetry for better efficiency

Design Elements Used

  • Replaced the original post with a metal beam that fits with the style of the log cabin
  • Added track and pendant lighting
  • Installed rustic hickory cabinetry
  • Incorporated champagne 3” x 3” hex mosaic backsplash over cooktop
  • Replaced countertops with Cambria quartz in Berkley color with 1/2  bullnose

How We Solved The Problem

Our DeKalb homeowners wanted an updated, spacious, and well-lit kitchen with an improved layout for more efficiency. To ensure they got the kitchen of their dreams, we began the transformation by removing the post in the center and replacing it with a metal beam. This opened up the room and improved the flow. We also installed new cabinetry selected for ample storage, better workspace, and efficiency. We also brought light into the room with pendant and track lighting. Our team then updated the tile floors and backsplash to help modernize and warm the room.
