WE UNDERSTAND
That's why our focus is on limiting your inconvenience and doing everything possible to maintain your day-to-day household environment. Years of experience have taught us how to limit dust and dirt, accurately prioritize tasks, and optimize schedules. The result is a smooth transition from old to new. We make remodeling a pleasant experience.
Since 1975, we have served the Northern Illinois area with our unique commitment to quality remodeling. One result is a steady flow of projects. And although the opportunity to expand our company is always present, we remain focused on controlling our size in order to maintain personal contact with all of our clients, past and present.
Ken Spears Construction is proud to offer a wide range of remodeling services, including room additions, windows, siding, kitchens, baths, and re-roofing. We do all carpentry to maintain the highest level of quality.
OUR PROCESS
The remodeling process begins by phoning us for a no-obligation appointment. We'll set up a time to come to your home when we can discuss the project with you. On smaller projects, we may be able to get all the information we need over the phone.
If your project is already designed, we will review the plans with you and give a preliminary estimate for job completion.
If we'll be doing the design, we'll ask you to describe the project in as much detail as possible. We've developed a project information sheet so that nothing is overlooked and every important question is asked. This is the time to show us any photos you've seen in newspapers or magazines, or any sketches you've drawn. Give us all of your ideas... we'll listen! We'll ask what you want the final design to accomplish. Also, be prepared to discuss the budget you have in mind for the project. Unrealistic expectations can result if you don't convey your expectations for the project. Most important, we'll ask, "What do you expect from us?"
Based on this meeting, we develop a project estimate, which will give you a good idea of what we expect your project to cost. Your plans and project estimate will be discussed in our next meeting, at the end of which we will ask for a "yes" or "no" to move ahead with the project. "No" is an okay answer. At any point during this meeting, if either of us feels we do not have a fit, for whatever reason, we can agree to end the process.
If you do give approval to move ahead with the project, we will then enter into a design agreement, for which a fee will be charged. This design fee includes conceptual drawings to determine overall layouts, design development to refine the final design, and the production design which includes drawings and specifications necessary to convey the scope of the project to both buyer and construction personnel.
Before finalizing a construction time line, we help you select personalized items such as faucets, tile color, etc. We then plan your project and give you a firm completion date.
YOUR PROJECT MANAGER
A Project Manager is assigned to every project. He's a person who takes personal pride in seeing your remodeling project completed with maximum quality. In fact, with your permission, we'll put a sign in front of your house featuring the Project Manager's name. He's proud to be working on your home.
You can count on your Project Manager to keep you informed. Before work begins, he'll walk through the entire project with you in a pre-construction conference. Depending upon the scope of your job, he'll either be working by himself, or with a crew of carpenters.
All subcontractors, such as plumbers and electricians, have immediate access to your Project Manager and fully understand all requirements of the job before coming to your home.
COMMUNICATION CENTER
By the time your project is ready to begin, we've accumulated a lot of important information. Schedules. Estimates. Plans. Colors. To keep track, we developed the Communication Center binder, a permanent record of all information regarding your specific job. Using it, we can be certain every concern is addressed, every question is answered, and all phases of the remodeling process are explained in detail.
An important part of the Communication Center binder is a message center for your observations and comments. This is especially important when you can't talk personally with your Project Manager. If you have a question, simply write it down. Every day before any work begins; your Project Manager reviews your comments and acts upon them.
OUR EMPLOYEES
We have pledged to uphold the ethics and guidelines of the National Remodeling Industry. This means all of our carpenters are hired employees eligible for our full benefits package. Each is a skilled craftsman building a career in the remodeling industry. To maintain the highest degree of productivity, our employees regularly attend seminars for on-going education.
All of our work is completed according to code. We only work with professionals with the same work ethic.
FOLLOW UP
We will follow up with you one year after your remodeling project's completion to be 100% certain everything is okay. If there is a need for adjustments, we will do them. We are committed to your complete satisfaction.
