Ken Spears Construction presents on the value of replacement windows and insulation.

Greg Spears presentation at PULSE Leads Group

Yorkville,IL, (December 20, 2011) – Greg Spears of Ken Spears Construction presented to PULSE Leads group on the different types of windows and insulation.

Windows come in different styles and profiles. You can choose windows with various materials, wood with aluminum clad exterior, vinyl, and composite. Since the rollout of the stringent requirements in 2009, replacing windows with Energy Star qualified windows can save as much as 15% on energy bills.

Different types of insulation can be used depending on what the needs are. Spears mentions “We use a FLIR (forward looking infrared) camera to help determine where potential air leaks are. There are the typical spots, with this technology we can pinpoint in the wall where the gaps in the insulation are.” Ken Spears Construction uses a combination of blown in cellulose and closed cell spray foam to increase the insulation value and add comfort to the home.

Current tax credits are 10% of cost of the materials up to $500. For a summary of all the tax credits can be found at energystar.gov.
