Your home is one of the most important and expensive investments you will make. For many homeowners having a basement is not only a luxury, it’s a necessity. Although basements are great for everything from storing family treasures to entertaining guests, there is one potential downside….FLOODING!
There are many things that can cause flooding including a power outage, a failed sump pump, or a crack in the foundation. Cleaning up from a flood is a nightmare. Not everyone realizes that something can be done to prevent basement flooding.
What happens if the power goes out in a huge rain storm. You sump pit fills up and creeps out into your floor getting into the carpet, furniture, pictures or your memories in stored in boxes.
How do you know if your sump pump is going to work or not when you need it most? Another option is to install a second sump pump just above the other one, just in case one does not work the second one will kick in and protect your items.
It is recommended you replace your sump pumps every 5-7 years. The minimal investment is great insurance from the damage a flood can leave.
